Bolognese is a very versatile dish.  Of course it’s used in the classic spaghetti Bolognese, but it can be paired with virtually any pasta and make a delicious meal.  We have a great fusilli pasta Bolognese you can check out.  It’s also perfect for batch cooking as you can make it in large quantities and it’s easy to store.  However, as delicious as Bolognese is it can get a bit boring if you have it all the time.  Why not shake things up by making use of Bolognese’s versatility and using as a base for other wonderful dishes?  These are the perfect meals to make from your leftover Bolognese.

Chilli

Chilli is a great dish to make from leftover Bolognese.  It can be served on its own or with rice, guacamole, or if you’re feeling cheeky add some tortilla chips for that extra salty crunch.  Cooking times normally vary between 20 minutes to an hour, but most of that time is just letting it simmer as it does its thing.  Since you’ll be using left over Bolognese all you have to do is heat it through and add the chillies etc.  You’ll definitely be done in half an hour or less.  Make sure to taste test as you add the chillies/chilli powder though, don’t want to sacrifice your delicious Bolognese to make a chilli that’ll blow your head off!

Lasagne Bolognese

Lasagne Bolognese is a slightly different dish from your average lasagne as it uses béchamel instead of ricotta to bind the filling.  However, it is just as easy to assemble with its simple layered structure of pasta sheets.  Plus, you don’t have to worry about making the Bolognese sauce as you’ll have your leftover Bolognese ready to go.

Cottage Pie

Cottage Pie is a classic UK creation developed in the 18th century.  It is a hearty dish that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.  An average cottage pie can take anywhere between an hour to two and a half hours depending on what recipe you use.  However, by using your leftover Bolognese instead of cooking mince from scratch you halve that time.  It also gives you more time to focus on making the mashed potato as creamy and delicious as possible

Keema Curry

Another way to spice up your leftover Bolognese is to make a keema curry.  Keema Curry us an Indian dish made from minced meat, peas, and aromatic herbs and spices.  It’s loaded with rich flavour and can be made in under 30 minutes.  Serve Keema Curry with rice, naan bread, poppadum, yoghurt, or anything else you fancy!

Tacos

Tacos are extremely versatile themselves; you can fill them with almost anything you like.  So, why not use your leftover Bolognese to make a delicious taco dish.  This is probably the easiest meal on this list.  Simply reheat the Bolognese, fill the tacos, and add whatever toppings you want.  Cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, whatever you like.  These are a great meal for kids too, as it allows them to get involved and disguises the fact that they are eating Bolognese again!
