The best thing about spicy seafood is that it’s versatile and excellent for sharing; it’s great as the main element during a romantic candlelit meal, or it makes a tasty dinner party dish. Either way, prawns are super easy to prepare and this buttery chilli prawn recipe is bound to impress whoever you’re cooking for! And it takes less than 15 minutes to make.

Serves: 2

Ingredients

12 – 20 large king prawns with shells
2 tablespoons olive oil
25g butter, softened
3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 red chilli, finely chopped with seeds
1 juiced lemon, plus extra slices for finger bowl
small bunch of parsley, roughly chopped
small crusty loaf, warmed to serve
Prawns
Method

In a large frying pan or skillet over medium heat, melt together the butter and olive oil. Once melted, add the chilli, garlic, and paprika before frying for 2 minutes or until it turns golden. Then, increase the heat and add the prawns and fry until they all turn pink (a few minutes).

Once pink, remove the pan from the heat and season the prawns and stir in the parsley and lemon juice. Prepare a finger bowl of warm water and lemon slices, another bowl for the prawn shells, and use your fingers to de-shell them and enjoy with the crusty warm loaf.

Side note: these buttery chilli prawns are great in linguine dishes!
