What you are going to need
  • 2 tbsp. of olive oil.
  • 1 kg (2 lb) of boneless, skinless chicken breasts.
  • 6 tbsp. of butter.
  • 6 tbsp. of all-purpose flour.
  • ½ tsp. of garlic salt.
  • ½ tsp. of onion powder.
  • 4 cups of chicken broth.
  • 1 cup of milk.
  • 4 cups of white rice.
  • 4 cups of broccoli florets.
  • 2 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese.
Before starting to cook
  1. To begin with, I suggest cutting the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces so that they are cooked easily.
  2. Apart from that, it is also a good idea to shred the cheese you are going to use. This will save you a bunch of time when cooking.
  3. Lastly, you should cut the broccoli florets beforehand to have them ready for the recipe.
What you are going to do
  1. Firstly, take a pan and add some olive oil. Set it over medium-high heat to heat it. Add the chicken breasts and sauté them, stirring constantly. After 5 minutes cooking them, transfer them to a plate and set them aside.
  2. Then, melt the butter in the same pan over medium heat. Add the flour and mix everything until it starts bubbling a little bit and it turns smooth.

  • You can replace broccoli with some leftover vegetables if you have them at home. Some of them that pair this recipe very well are cauliflower, spinach and red pepper.
  • It could be a good option to change Cheddar cheese for Mozzarella or Parmesan cheese, if desired. Just choose the one that suits you best!
  • Always remember that cooking is about being creative. So, don’t be afraid of changing the recipe a little bit by, for example, using pork meat instead of chicken breasts, or using some vegetable broth.
